What would you recommend for my application?
- This is not a one-size fits all answer – it comes down to how much power the vehicle is making (or will be making once all mods are complete), if the vehicle is naturally aspirated or has some kind of power adder(s), how the vehicle is being driven, and average RPM range, amongst others.
- Generally speaking, bigger is NOT ALWAYS better. You want to use the smallest primary tube that your engine/power output will allow to maximize both torque and top end horsepower.
- If you have additional questions, contact Kooks at 704-768-2288 or email sales@kooksheaders.com

Kooks Product Questions
How much horsepower will I gain?
Typically in the range of 15 to 20 hp with a tune unless otherwise stated.
What is Kook’s header bolt torque spec?
We go off the OEM spec and sequence. Treat it like you were torquing down an OEM manifold.
Do your headers come with gaskets, bolts, 02 extensions, instructions, clamps, etc.?
Yes, they do. 02extensions will be included if they are required for the vehicle. Instructions are available under the Resources tab on our website product listing.
I have Kooks GREEN cats and a canned tune but am now getting a P0420 and or P0430, have my cats failed?
More than likely, no. Cats are a lot harder to hurt than most people think. 99% of the time when a P0420 or P0430 are present, especially when it is both at the same time, it is resolved in the tune or by finding an exhaust leak. These codes are a symptom, not the disease, just like a runny nose.
What is the difference between the Standard Cat and the Kooks GREEN Cat?
These two cats are physically the same, and both use the same 300 cell high-flow substrate. The difference is in the coating that is applied to the substrate. The coating on the Kooks GREEN Cat has more of the precious metals required to create the proper reaction to function as a catalytic converter in newer vehicle exhaust systems. This coating also helps the cat withstand the increased heat in higher horsepower and forced induction applications. The standard cats carry a 1 year limited replacement warranty(No warranty if used in a forced induction application). The Kooks GREEN Cats carry a 2 year limited replacement warranty.
What’s the difference between all the Kooks cat options?
- Performance Cats – not EPA verified, for use on NA applications under 550 RWHP. High flow, 400 cell substrate in 4” cat body.
- GREEN Cats – EPA verified, for use on NA or Forced Induction applications up to 750 RWHP. High flow, 400 cell substrate in 4” cat body.
- Ultra GREEN Cats – EPA verified, for use on NA or Forced Induction applications up to 850 RWHP. Higher flow, 400 cell substrate in 4.5” cat body with additional precious metals to increase emissions control.
- High Output (H.O.) GREEN Cats – EPA verified, for use on NA or Forced Induction applications up to 1,000 RWHP. Highest flow, 300 cell substrate in 4.5” cat body.
What is the difference between Long Tube Headers and Short Tube Headers (Torque Series, Super Street Series)?
Kooks Torque Series & Kooks Super Street
The Kooks Torque Series headers and Kooks Super Street Series headers are designed with for improved performance while maintaining an outlet that will connect to the OEM Catalytic Converter. This allows for maximum performance without interfering with the Emissions Control systems of the vehicle and without requiring a tune.
Kooks Long Tube
Long Tube headers are designed for maximum performance and will require a Kooks Connection pipe or Kooks Header-Back exhaust system to be used. With Long Tube headers, the OEM Catalytic converters will need to be removed. A tune is required to receive the maximum benefit of the Long Tube Header upgrade.
I just need the “x” section of part #11323300, but I don’t see it on your website. Can I buy just this piece, or do I have to buy the whole catted x-pipe?
Usually, there is an internal part within part #11323300. We do not list these parts on our website but we can sell it if it’s available.
I already have aftermarket parts installed on my car, will Kooks fit with them?
Prior to purchasing, please reach out to a Technical Sales Representative to confirm compatibility1-866-586-KOOK (5665). Our experts will be able to make sure what you're purchasing is the right item.
How much power will a Kooks system make?
- Power results will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to other modifications on the vehicle, air temperature or humidity, altitude, engine quality, and of course, the all-important tune.
- Generally speaking, customers will see between 10-25 more horsepower and 15-30 more ft. lbs. of torque with our Super Street or Torque Series headers, which offer a no-tune solution for making more power. With our long-tube systems and a proper tune, customers will generally see about 25-50 more horsepower and 30+ ft. lbs. of torque.
